THE COME-UP: Artist TySolo Blesses Us Again

It is such an honor to feature Tyrus Solomon aka TySolo once again and say this is our third time collaborating together! I first met Tyrus back in 2019 at an empowerment conference and we connected which led us to his first feature here. Back in 2020’s interview, THE COME-UP: The Artist Still Known as TySolo, we chatted about a lot ranging from his definition of success and love for creating art. Recently, TySolo and I discussed his projects for 2024, healthy habits he picked up over the years, and his ongoing successful journey as an artist!

Tyrus Solomon, Artist

It’s so dope that this is your third appearance on oprahzipbradford.com! Tell us what we can look forward to from you in 2024.

Tyrus: “In 2024, I’m bringing a heightened focus to my career and embracing changes in my approach to painting. Balancing my creative professional life with fatherhood has become a fulfilling challenge. Anticipate more films, a touch of surrealism, a technological edge to my creative design process, and ventures that reflect my identity and culture as an artist. This year holds exciting prospects for me.”

What was the main lesson 2023 taught you? Personally and Professionally?

Tyrus: “Main themes in 2023 revolved around lessons in responsibility, decision-making, pivoting, time management, prioritization, and the importance of follow-through. All these lessons helped me both personally and professionally.”

What healthy habits and traits have you picked up that elevated you as a person in life and business?

Tyrus: “I’ve incorporated a morning routine of playing symphony orchestra music like violins and piano. I went to listen to Memphis Symphony Orchestra Beethoven’s 9th Ode to Joy a few years ago, so just recently I’ve begun listening to classical music as a way to reset my brain chemistry. It definitely has elevated my overall well-being. It helps me focus, but it also forces me to use my imagination. As the instruments play, I’m utilizing the ebbs and flows to create storylines in my head lol.”

As an artist, what is one thing that you are learning everyday in your craft?

Tyrus: “It’s okay to take breaks…be bored…and rest.”

The Masterpiece!

What are some affirmations that you live by right now?

• Achievement unlocked.

• Pursuing my art professionally is reasonable, sensible, and responsible.

• Business is an art; how I approach one thing reflects in everything I do.

Tell us about an experience or a life changing moment that you’ll never forget in your journey as a creative.

Tyrus: “In my journey, countless moments stand out, but finishing a project, satisfying a client, or completing a painting/mural always brings a life-changing impact. I choose to romanticize every aspect of what I do. All while leveraging these experiences for continuous growth.”

What keeps you focused and grounded when you’re feeling uninspired?

Tyrus: “The Japanese use the word “ukino” which basically means slow living, to live in the moment, and take a slower course.”

What is your main goal for 2024?

Tyrus: “In 2024, my primary objective is to successfully launch various branches of TySolo Studio. My overall goal involves crafting a routine that seamlessly accommodates each venture and that also feels natural. I’m deeply passionate about my career and I take pride in scaling my diverse talents, refining my gifts, and establishing channels that truly appreciate them.”
