The Sweet Life: K&K’s Sweet Creations On Sisterhood, Partnership, and Business

Kayla & Kyria Brock are twin sisters and the proud owners of the sweet treat business K&K’s Sweet Creations LLC. As natives of Franklinton, LA, The Brock Sisters had a vision that created a sister partnership and a successful business from the ground up. I had the pleasure of chatting with them about the start-up of K&K’s Sweet Creations, challenges and sacrifices in business, and the mindset that gets them through entrepreneurship.

Kayla & Kyria Brock, Owners of K&K Sweet Creations LLC

How did you get started in the treat/dessert business?

K&K: “In 2015 My sister Kayla and I had A conversation about starting our own business, but we didn’t know what occupation or area we wanted to do. We didn’t even know where to start. One night, Kayla was working overnight and she was watching videos on YouTube. She called me and suggested we should start a business that catered to sweet treats and desserts. That’s when the planning started. About three weeks later, we started and came up with the name K&K Sweet Creations inspired by out first names. The rest is history.”

In moments of adversity, how do you build yourself back up?

K&K: “We support each other and always remain positive. We include prayer and take mental breaks when needed. A clear mind and staying focused is the key.”

What are the biggest challenges and sacrifices you made while you were starting your business?

K&K: ” Our biggest challenges was getting the word out about their business and making our customers happy. When starting a business, you definitely have to step out of your comfort zone to make sure your customers are pleased with your work. Unfortunately, you can’t please everyone. Sometimes, you do exactly what the customer asks and they still won’t be satisfied.”

What are some tips you have for aspiring Entrepreneurs?

K&K: “Whatever you decide do do as a entrepreneur, stick with it. Don’t let anyone stop you from doing whatever you put your mind to.”

What does success mean to you?

K&K: ” Success to us is setting goals and actually accomplishing them. Whether its small or big goals. “

What does it take to run a successful business with a partner?

K&K: Understanding. Patience. Communication.

Has learning a mistake ever led you to success?

K&K: “Yes, it definitely has. When you make mistakes, you learn from them and the make the best of it.”

What’s the best advice for someone who feels they haven’t found their purpose yet?

K&K: “Keep looking and don’t give up! Find something you love doing and make a business out of it. Once you start, run with it! Who wouldn’t want to get paid doing something they love doing?”

What is your biggest goal this year?

K&K: ” Our bigget goal is to keep promoting and working on themes to expand our name and business. We also want to start shipping nationwide.”

Name your greatest success or something you’re most proud of in your business experience.

K&K: ” The greatest success is achieving assignments that we struggled with in the beginning. We deal with obstacles, so overcoming them and making our customers happy is the greatest feeling.”
