The Millennial Woman is the future! 2017 is already becoming a lit year ! What are some of your favorite highlights done by women that happened this month?

Alair: “I was really happy about Meryl Streep and Viola Davis’s speeches at the Golden Globes as well as Tracy Elis Ross getting her award. All 3 of these women are amazing actresses and very bad-ass. “

Describe your book Gems. What do you want your readers to experience from this book?

Alair: “Gems is bunch of lessons, observations, and perspectives on issues I have dealt with. Topics include feminism, sex, body image, resilience, etc. I want readers to take this book everywhere with them. Mark it up, highlight it, use it however it best serves you. Most of all I want readers to walk away feeling understood and empowered. Whenever they need a pep talk, pick the book back up and recharge. “

 What are some other projects/goals you have planned for 2017?

Alair: “I am in the very early stages of working on a documentary spun off of Gems the book. It will highlight other women perspectives on the very same topics in the book. I really wanted to shine even more light on women issues and how perspectives have changed. 

Also I am working toward partnering with other woman’s initiatives and organization to grab a hold of women and lift them up with me. “

 As a blogger, what is the #1 tip you can give to a person who wants to start a blog?

Alair: “I have blogged on and off both for myself and in the corporate world. My #1 tip would be to get started! A lot of times people say, “Oh I would love to start a blog but I’m afraid no one would read it”. You can’t worry about that in the beginning. No one starts with a huge following at first. Just get started, and be consistent. Your readers will come. “

How long did it take you to write #Gems? What motivated you to write this book?

Alair: “I began writing Gems around 2014/2015 during a period of deep self-discovery. I didn’t intend on it becoming a book. Writing was always something I did to release feelings and energy. However this writing experience continued and gradually became more and more cohesive. It wasn’t until 20 pages later I thought to turn it into a book. “

I’m glad women empowerment is becoming so popular. Who empowers you?

Alair: “I am empowered by all sorts of women. From women in the spotlight like Michele Obama to everyday women walking down the street. Theres always some detail or quality that you can identify with in a woman that makes you say, “Thats badass! I see you girl!”

 What is the quote you live by?

Alair:” I love motivational quotes. I collect hundreds of them. You’ll notice that in the book as well lol Lately my favorite quote has been, “Let’s get our wish together, together.” I talk about that more in the book as well but its about personal development in a communal since.”
