The Naked Writer Dares To Be Transparent And Vulnerable Through Her Growing Platfrom

quotes1 In our anxious world, we often protect ourselves by closing off parts of our lives that leave us feeling most vulnerable. Yet invulnerability has a price. ” Brene Brown

As a millennial woman, it’s always important to be a positive influence for other millennial woman. When I stumbled across MJ, The Naked Writer, her transparency, wit, and catchy topics caught my eye as I spent the entire night reading about her journey. As she preaches that vulnerabilty is a way of life, MJ definitely goes into the category of women who dares to be bold by just keeping it real!

MJ, The Naked Writer

What made you start blogging?

MJ: quotes1 Aside from everyone begging me to start one? lol. I wanted to create a space where I could share ‘real life’ and people would know that they are not alone in the challenging spaces of life. The different topics come out of a reoccurring theme in my life, conversations with friends or what’s in my heart to share at the time.”

As women, what do we need to be better in 2018?

MJ: “Saying YES to ourselves. #SelfCare. We can’t pour out of an empty cup!”

Who are some of your favorite bloggers?

MJ: Journey 2 One, UnKajed Thoughts, Scribbles & Tostitos and Hey, is that me.

What is the piece of information you know now that you wish you knew before blogging?

MJ: “I wish I knew about that “Read More” tab!!! Lol So, people would actually have to visit my blog, instead of reading my entire post in their email.”

Who influences you and why?

MJ: “My big sister Jazz. Her transparency is refreshing… and she was the first person to tell me my Brazillian hair was too greasy and that I could wash it!!!”

How do you balance being “transparent” on your blogs, but also keeping your life private?

MJ: “I’m happy to be ‘transparent’ with the experiences that I think will HELP someone else. But I’m private with the places that tend to include ‘someone else’ as, they didn’t sign up to have their lives featured on my blog…lol.”

What do you see your website a year from now?

MJ: “A year from now, I’d love for my blog to have 1,000 subscribers and possibly feature a ‘next step’ of engagement for my Vulnerabites… whether that be a YouTube Channel, a book release, a Vulnerabite experience… anything!”

Have you ever thought about writing a book? What is your favorite book and why?

MJ: “Yes, I have thought about writing a book, but no serious steps in that direction.  My favorite book is The Defining Decade — love how practical she is about how 20-somethings should be maximizing that time in their lives. And the science of our brains entering it’s final growth spurt.”

What do you like to do in your spare time?

MJ: “Spend time with loved ones, read, watch a good movie.”

Do you like writing in the morning or night?

MJ: Morning Bird!

  1. Loved reading your site. I am also starting a blog and I get your topics. I would be honored if you would come to mine and see what you think. I am just like you, I had so many people telling me I needed to share my stories and I figured this was a good start.
