Staying Emotionally Focused on Your Goals

Procrastination is not your friend. Get that idea out of your head! In order to stay emotionally focused, its just like anything else we want to improve and master in. It’s a way of life, a lifestyle you must practice and commit to. It’s also a form of self-care by staying focused on the things that serve you instead of getting caught up in life’s distractions. But staying emotionally focused doesn’t always come easy which is why you have to be up for the challenge every time. Here are 10 gems that will lead you down a greater road towards self-thinking…

1.) Work on one project at a time. Overworking doesn’t necessarily mean success.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Staying up late hours of the night and being overworked doesn’t speed up the process! Learn to bite off one project at a time. Have goals written down with a plan and deadline in mind. If you are a “worry wart” and don’t work well under pressure, work on one project at a time for better focus. If you’re a multi-tasker who can handle a decent load, schedule times for each project for better organization. You may have a project that pulls you more in a creative direction, and that’s okay! Follow your gut towards making progress one project at a time. The rest will be history.

2.) Have a consistent plan in action.

How bad do you want it?

Does it serve you purpose in the direction you’re going?

Does it help you elevate to the next level you want to be on?

If you can’t answer these questions in a positive light, it’s time for some self-reflection. Procrastination and inconsistency are cousins that will not help you win! They will keep you off track from your goals and it also stunts your personal growth. Take small steps to change your habits by dropping old ones in order to create meaningful habits that transform your life. Action creates results. Results creates more opportunities to win.

3.) Adjust your daily thoughts

The Five Minute Miracle is a gem I read from a Forbes article. I personally tried it when I work and it is helpful if you apply it! This is one of the best techniques for people who struggle with procrastination.

The Five Minute Miracle involves asking yourself; “Hmm, what action can I take in less than five minutes TODAY that moves this forward even the tiniest bit?” Once you’ve identified a small action, set a timer for five minutes and spend five minutes working on the task. Research shows that once you start something, you’re much more likely to finish it. This is due to a psychological phenomenon called the Zeigarnik effect, which says that unfinished tasks are more likely to get stuck in your memory. (This is also why our mind gets stuck in a loop thinking about all the things we haven’t yet completed.) Remember: Small action is still action. Five minutes can make all the difference.

4.) Have a daily self-care break.

A little self-care goes a long way and it also improves your focus. Set an alarm to spend at least 30min- 1hour per day on a new project or doing something you love. It keeps your mind sharp, and it also keeps you motivated!

5.) Don’t hang out with PROCRASTINATION!

Like I mentioned before, procrastination and inconsistency are stubborn cousins!! They leave unhealthy habits and end up giving you the short stick in the end. You have to cut them off like cold turkey if you want to be successful! Set true intentions for yourself! Believe it. Write it down. Plan it. Put it into action. Do whatever it takes.

6.) Create a calming work-space or a relaxing spot.

Find an outlet that helps with your healing. Writing in new spaces and music are two ways I enjoy self-care when I’m working on my goals. Light some candles. De-clutter your space and get to work! 7.) Always stay “uncomfortable” with your goals.

Sounds crazy, right? Staying comfortable means you’re stagnant which means this can be a detour & distraction from achieving your goals. You may be procrastinating or holding off goals because of lack of faith, lack of time, uninspired, fear of failure, laziness, self-sabotage, and a huge number of other things. I could go on and on! The truth is none of it matters because none of it is you. Staying uncomfortable always leads you to learning something new and taking you a step closer to where you’re creating to be.

8.) If it scares you, do it.

Waiting can become a trap. There will always be reasons you tell yourself why you should wait or why it wouldn’t work, but the truth is the only way to find out is to do it. Robert Anthony stated, “There are only two things in life, reasons and results, and reasons simply don’t count.”

9.) Bet on Yourself.

Stop discounting your greatness! This year has already been an eye-opener for me. In my past blogs, I talked about being in the wilderness and how truly important it is to stay firm in what you are manifesting. BET ON YOURSELF. 10.) Let Your Expressions Show.

Do not be afraid to be YOU. Always remember that what you are is not interesting! The things that make you creative is a part of you, a light that comes out if you allow it to grow. Stop blocking the process of your creativity with self-doubt thinking you’re not good enough or think nobody cares what you have to say…or express. It can be discouraging sometimes especially when you find yourself in a dark place. The key is having courage to your light to shine and not caring about the rest. Who matters will appreciate you. Who doesn’t wasn’t for you anyway.

Today I shared this message from me on my Facebook:

This weekend, the universe was amazing to me creatively. For months, I’ve been working on projects I am birthing to life, even when the thrill was gone and I wanted to give up on them. That’s the thing about being a creative: you’re not always going to feel inspired when you’re creating. This is the time when most ppl quit, when it’s really the time you should keep going. I remember 6 years ago when I stayed up until 4am just to finish the ending of a book I was writing, and I was tired as hell (even though I had to be at work for 7am), but I didn’t want to go to sleep until it was complete. I stayed up and finished writing the novel. I was hungry. I was passionate. I had to find that spark again. As a creator, my energy is always changing- sometimes even leaving me stuck in a spot where all I can do is visualize, but I find it challenging to create it. It’s a mental rollercoaster! As I get older and more deeper in my brand, I find myself being more cautious about what I put out in the universe, even when it comes to my work. My goal is “progress over perfection”, and that has led me to posting less and taking more time towards creating more effective content. I’ve been a gal that always stayed in my own lane, but I am also a gal that gets in her own way as well. This year, my goal is showing more and creating more, and also more interaction with my supporters.. In the past, I loved sharing my journey through inspirational videos and posts on my business page Oprah “Zip” Bradford. Now it’s time to share my new journey. I’m out of my cocoon, blooming.

Zip is back. ❤️

Until next time…

xoxo.
